Gain insider knowledge into the day-to-day experiences of AQWA's career aquarists, marine scientists & tour guides with the new Career Taster Program, designed exclusively for Year 9 - 10 students

An AQWA excursion is about bringing learning to life. Explore, observe and investigate incredible creatures, ecosystems and STEM concepts together. Inspire independent learners to discover on their own using our curriculum linked activity sheets. Show students a new perspective and spark their curiosity of the natural world. It can all start with an underwater journey at AQWA! Use the information below and our External Provider Pack to plan your day.
External Provider PackExcursion length
AQWA is open from 9am – 4pm and a Standard Excursion is 2.5 hours. Our themed Excursion Packages include either a 1 hour activity or a 'full day' program.
Bus parking
Bus parking is available directly in front of AQWA’s entrance. Free 4-hour car parking is also available.
Arrival + Entry
On arrival please gather your group at the base of our main stairs (do not ascend) while the designated teacher checks in at reception. If raining, please keep students on the bus. An Ocean Guide will then welcome your group. Schools gain special entry through our Marina Bay access gate (weather permitting).
Lunches + bags
RECESS/LUNCH: picnic tables for groups to eat recess and lunch are located at our Marina Bay, Touch Pool and Coral Reef boardwalk. Groups can also make use of the grassed area adjacent to AQWA if they need to be close to their bus to retrieve eskies etc. School groups cannot eat packed recess/lunches in the Café, however we can provide shared use of our function centre in wet weather. Lunches can be pre-ordered from the AQWA Café at a discounted rate - see this option when booking. STORAGE: AQWA can store teacher's trolleys, first aid kits and eskis etc. It is recommended student's do NOT bring personal backpacks. If they do, students are not to remove and leave bags unattended throughout the venue for safety reasons.
Amenities
All indoor exhibits are air conditioned; outdoor areas are shaded; there is a drinking water fountain (by the touch pool) and there are female, male and unisex designated ablution blocks. A defibrillator is located in the AQWA Café.
Accessibility
ACCESS: there is an access ramp, door or elevator to all areas, except our Great Southern exhibit. FACILITIES: there are large unisex disabled toilets available
Exit
AQWA’s exit is through the gift shop. It is requested students exit in single file. Alternatively, large groups can exit through the Marina Bay access gate (weather permitting); simply ask your Ocean Guide for instructions on the day.
Resources
An extensive range of resources are available for download, including over 50 animal fact sheets, lesson plans, stories and curriculum linked activities. Teachers are also welcome a free planning visit to familiarise with our exhibits and devise any worksheets of your own.
Animal FactsAQWA Cafe
Never fear parent helpers - the AQWA Café is open from 9.30am-3pm and serves coffee and tea to save your sanity! A range of meals and snacks also available. Our Cafe also offers a selection of School Lunch Orders, at discounted prices, which can be ordered in advance.

Teachers may wish to pop in prior to exiting as there is a wide range of educational resources including an extensive range of ocean themed story books. Students in year 4+ are also welcome but must be supervised by teachers.
