Bring 3 For The Sea - with Containers For Change

By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. To help prevent this from coming true, AQWA has teamed up with Containers for Change. We’re asking every visitor to rethink their recycling and collect their 10c marked containers to ‘Bring 3 For the Sea’ when you visit AQWA! Instead of ending up in the ocean or landfill, your plastic bottles and containers will help protect endangered marine turtles and other marine life, with funds from eligible containers given directly to the AQWA Foundation, to support initiatives, like our turtle Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release program. Learn how below!

GET INVOLVED

Individuals

On your next visit, can you bring 3 10c marked containers for the sea? Members of our local community can make use of our AQWA Foundation dedicated Donation Point, located just outside of AQWA’s main entrance and accessible 24/7 to make a donation.

If you’re an AQWA Visitor, you’ll also notice dedicated Containers For Change white-lid bins throughout the venue to dispose of any drink containers. The kids (and adults…) will love using the NEW reverse vending machine, located in the AQWA Café.

Not a local? No worries! We love that you still want to donate your containers to AQWA Foundation! You can do it by dropping your containers at your most convenient Depot, Drop & Go or Self-Serve point and providing our Member Number: C1032111 to the operator. For Self-Serve points, be sure to select Donate My Refund and then scan AQWA Foundation’s Member Number barcode. You can even save it to your digital wallet for a faster donation next time!

Schools & Groups

Get students excited for their excursion by involving them in our Bring 3 For the Sea campaign! We’re asking every student to bring three 10c marked containers with them to donate to the AQWA Foundation during their excursion.

When you book an AQWA excursion, simply request we post out a Containers for Change collection bag during your booking form, so you can start gathering your containers before you visit. We’ve also got a send-home info flyer available, to make it clear and simple for parents to join in. Participating schools can receive a Certificate of Acknowledgement for helping the AQWA Foundation!

Not visiting AQWA? Your school, community group or special event can still make a sea creature-saving donation! Just use our Member Number: C10321117 when dropping your containers at a Depot or Drop & Go Centre, or scan the Member Number barcode at Self-Serve points.

WORKING TOGETHER

Scouts WA Recycling

We are proud to partner with Scouts WA Recycling for the management of our Donation Point! Scouts WA Recycling run a unique no-cost commercial collection and sorting service for organisations, which reduces the carbon footprint and other costs associated with large scale waste management. Better still, the Containers For Change scheme supports Scouts WA Recycling to do this, with additional proceeds used to support Scouts WA, our premier youth organisation.

What We’re Doing

Our initiatives

Café To Compost

Lets untrash and sort our waste stash! Our Café uses only compostable take-away items, which visitors can easily sort on-site along with other organics. We then send it to compost, not landfill!

Seagrass Sanctuaries

Do flowers grow underwater? One does... seagrass! Seagrass is the ocean's only flowing plant and its answer to land's grasslands and meadows, acting as safe haven for fry and baby animals.

The Coral Bank Of Western Australia

By building a cache of genetic material, we’re creating an insurance policy for WA’s corals.

Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release

The AQWA Foundation provides essential care for sick and injured marine life, with an emphasis on the rehabilitation of sea turtles for release back to the wild.
