AQWA’S FISHY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
8 April 2004
One of Perth’s most popular attractions, AQWA – the Aquarium of Western Australia – will be celebrating its 16th birthday on Tuesday 13th April with a giant birthday cake fed to the sharks, turtles, stingrays and thousands of fish in AQWA’s main aquarium.
AQWA diver, David Bloch, will present the special cake – full of fishy ingredients - to the marine life in AQWA’s three million litre Shipwreck Coast aquarium at 11.00am and visitors will be invited to watch the feeding frenzy.
David Bloch has worked at AQWA for a number of years and is proud to be involved with the State’s most visited privately owned marine attraction.
“It’s wonderful to look back over the sixteen years of the aquarium’s history to see how much we’ve grown,” he said.
“Many changes have taken place over the years, including this summer’s spectacular new exhibits from the Far North and Perth Coastal regions of our State. But even with all the changes, we still have staff, and even some fish, that have been here since the opening day!”
AQWA takes visitors on a 12,000km underwater journey of Western Australia’s coastline to discover the incredible and unique marine life of our State. AQWA has welcomed over 4.3 million visitors since opening in 1988.
