BOOK WEEK STORIES UNDER THE SEA
15 August 2003
With "Oceans of Stories" as the theme of this year's Book Week, where better for children to hear a story than under the ocean in AQWA's main aquarium!
Fifty children from Landsdale Pre-Primary School will enjoy this fantastic experience when they visit AQWA on Tuesday 19th August. They will be taken 'under the ocean' to AQWA's main aquarium to have an ocean-themed story read to them whilst watching sharks, turtles, stingrays and thousands of fish swimming past.
AQWA's Community Education Manager, Sasha Thompson, said she was sure that the children would enjoy their experience.
"We hope that hearing a story in such spectacular surroundings will really bring it to life and encourage more children into reading," she said.
Book Week is a national event run by the Children's Book Council. This year's event runs from 16th to 22nd August and includes activities in schools and libraries and the announcement of the Children's Book of the Year.
