When to visit
AQWA is open daily from 10am-5pm.
Families generally visit in the morning, making this the best time to come if you want to happily explore our exhibits amongst other kids and parents.
AQWA is busiest in summer when parents are typically on holidays, but don’t forget it’s also a great venue to visit in winter, as most of the exhibits are indoors and out of the weather. If visiting during school holidays keep an eye out for special competitions and promotions.
Hints: Your entry is an all-day ticket, so for the best value for money make your visit to AQWA a full day experience. Spend the morning exploring the attractions at AQWA, have a snack in the Café, then go for a walk, play on the grassed area outside AQWA, visit the harbour’s beaches, play grounds and Sorrento Quay shops, before returning in the afternoon to discover more!

Mothers are welcome to breast feed anywhere they feel comfortable. We would recommend the bench seats surrounding the moon jellyfish, the lounge seating in the coral reef underwater viewing gallery or in the café.
Hints: depending upon the age of your baby you may prefer a baby carrier rather than your pram for ease of access while exploring the exhibit areas.
AQWA’s Discovery Pool – A favourite for all ages. Toddlers delight in simply touching water while older kids can interact by gently holding starfish underwater or even stroking a shark, using an underwater viewer or even wearing goggles to look underwater.
AQWA’s coral reef exhibit – A favourite for the under 4’s who can easily see into the living coral reef through the floor to ceiling viewing windows; relate to the bright décor and can focus on the bright fish with their contrasting colours.
AQWA’s Shipwreck Coast exhibit – The favourite of the over 3’s with its walk through tunnel and conveyor belt not to mention the sharks, stingrays, turtles and hundreds of stunning fish
Divers! – watch out for staff cleaning exhibits in morning, and members of public diving in main aquarium in the afternoon.
